Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the new building of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Kolkata. Speaking at the event, he announced plans to establish forensic laboratories across India to strengthen scientific crime investigation capabilities nationwide. The CFSL plays a vital role in supporting law enforcement agencies through advanced forensic analysis.
Amit Shah highlighted that the government is actively working on updating and implementing new laws, replacing outdated regulations from the British colonial era. These legal reforms aim to modernize the criminal justice system and make it more effective in tackling contemporary crimes.
He emphasized the commitment of the government to ensure that criminals are held accountable regardless of their location. “Whether inside or outside the country, we will punish those who commit crimes,” he said, reinforcing a strict law-and-order stance.
The inauguration of the new CFSL building in Kolkata’s New Town marks a significant step in enhancing forensic infrastructure in eastern India. This development is expected to improve the speed and accuracy of crime investigations benefiting police forces, investigative agencies, and the judiciary in the region.
