The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids on May 31 across 15 locations in eight states, including Delhi, Haryana, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Assam. These coordinated actions were part of an ongoing investigation into espionage activities linked to Pakistan. The raids targeted sites suspected of involvement in terrorism-related financial transactions and intelligence sharing.
In Kolkata, the NIA carried out searches at three locations: a shop in Alipore, a travel agency in Mominpur, and a hotel in Topsia. The operations followed the arrest of CRPF jawan Motilal Jat, who was detained on charges of spying for Pakistan. Authorities identified the travel agency in Mominpur as a point of interest due to suspicious financial transactions. Investigators found that three transactions dated April 3, 2024, may be connected to terrorism-related activities.
Masood Alam, the owner of the Mominpur travel agency, was summoned for questioning and appeared at the NIA office in New Town at 11:30 AM today. In addition to Masood Alam, two other individuals have been summoned for further questioning as part of the investigation. The NIA continues to examine financial records and gather evidence related to the case.
