In Bhatpara’s Aamtala Colony, Ward 15, an attack took place on a rented house in broad daylight. Unknown assailants broke tiles and doors of the house and physically assaulted Ganesh Chaudhary, a family member residing there. The Chaudhary family has been living in the same rented house for 50 to 60 years.
The incident reportedly followed a claim by a man who said he had purchased the land where the house stands. Since then, pressure was allegedly exerted on the family to vacate the premises. The violence occurred amid these ongoing tensions in the area.
Police from Jagdal police station reached the scene and began an investigation. Local councilor Manoj Pandey said, “Buddhijivi dal nahi hota, agar ghatna sahi hai to karwai zaroor hogi,” and denied any involvement of political groups, including the Trinamool party.
