Tension flared in Tamluk, the district headquarters of Purba Medinipur, after a dispute broke out over the construction of a permanent bridge. A local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader filed a complaint alleging that BJP and ISF supporters were carrying out the construction work without official permission. Following the complaint, the administration attempted to stop the ongoing work, which led to a heated situation.
Soon after, alleged BJP and ISF supporters reportedly vandalized the office of the TMC leader. The incident triggered a clash between TMC workers and local residents. Eyewitnesses reported that the confrontation began with arguments and quickly escalated into a physical altercation on the street, causing panic in the surrounding area.
In response to the incident, a group of locals blocked the National Highway passing through Tamluk, leading to severe traffic congestion. Police from Tamluk police station along with RAF personnel were deployed to control the situation. As per the latest update, the area remains tense but law enforcement is maintaining order.
