A tense situation unfolded in Murshidabad’s Lalbagh town late Thursday night after the death of a pregnant woman triggered public outrage. The woman was initially admitted to a private nursing home, where she reportedly died under unclear circumstances. Her family has alleged that the hospital authorities failed to inform them about her death and instead falsely claimed she was being referred for further treatment.
According to the family, the nursing home sent the deceased woman to Baharampur, misleading the relatives into believing she was still alive. Upon reaching Baharampur, doctors there informed the family that she had already passed away before arrival. Shocked and furious, the family returned to Lalbagh with the body and placed it outside the nursing home in protest.
As word spread, an angry crowd gathered and stormed the nursing home, vandalizing property in frustration over the alleged negligence and misinformation. The situation was brought under control after police from Murshidabad police station intervened and dispersed the mob.
Locals have demanded a thorough investigation into the actions of the nursing home and justice for the deceased and her family.
