In a tragic accident, the rear section of a dilapidated G+2 building collapsed during renovation work around 11:10 am today at Srinath Das Lane, under Bowbazar police station area in central Kolkata.
One laborer, Ashutosh Adhikari (40), a resident of Devgaria, Jeevantala in South 24 Parganas, was safely rescued from the debris by local police and fire brigade teams. He was immediately rushed to MCH hospital with the assistance of Karma Ambulance services.
Multiple emergency response units — including DMG, Fire Brigade, CESC, KMC, Traffic Police, and local law enforcement — are currently on site. Relief and rescue operations are ongoing, and further details are awaited.
