Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai on Sunday, accused the DMK government of indulging in massive corruption, including a Rs 450 crore scam involving Central nutrition kits and a Rs 4,600 crore sand mining racket. Shah alleged that these scams hurt the poor while the ruling party profited. He also cited the Rs 39,000 crore TASMAC liquor distribution irregularity and blamed the government for the 2023 Kallakurichi hooch tragedy that claimed over 60 lives.
While attacking Chief Minister MK Stalin for failing to fulfill over 60% of his poll promises, Shah expressed confidence that the BJP-AIADMK alliance would dethrone the DMK in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He also declared that the BJP would form governments in both Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Highlighting PM Modi's leadership, he credited the Centre for recent military operations, including Operation Sindoor.
