South Bengal gets new rail connectivity: Purulia-Bankura-Howrah MEMU service inaugurated today
The West Bengal Assembly witnessed high drama on Monday after BJP MLA Manoj Kumar Oraon was suspended from the House by the Speaker for alleged misbehavior. Tensions escalated quickly as BJP legislators strongly opposed the move, leading to loud protests and a walkout.
According to assembly officials, Manoj Oraon repeatedly disrupted proceedings despite multiple warnings from the Chair. The Speaker then ordered his suspension and instructed marshals to escort him out of the House. The move triggered outrage among BJP MLAs, who shouted slogans and stormed out.
Outside the assembly, BJP leaders slammed the ruling party, accusing them of silencing the opposition. "This is not suspension—it’s suppression. We have the right to raise issues, and we will continue to do so," said a senior BJP MLA after the protest.
The session resumed under tight watch, but the political friction is expected to continue as BJP plans to raise the issue again in upcoming sessions.
