BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has strongly countered Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s remark that the BJP would be reduced to zero in West Bengal by 2026. Responding to her statement in the Assembly, Ghosh said that BJP legislators are working to raise the voices of common people, but are suspended instead of being heard.
Taking a jibe at the Chief Minister, Ghosh said, “She is talking about defeating the BJP, while she herself became the CM after losing her own seat. This doesn’t suit her.” He was referring to Banerjee’s defeat in Nandigram during the 2021 state elections.
Ghosh further added that the BJP is the only party in the state that is actively taking up people’s issues inside and outside the Assembly. “Suppressing the opposition won’t suppress the public’s voice,” he asserted.
His comments come amid rising political tension between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition BJP, with recent suspensions of BJP MLAs fueling further confrontation.
