Delivery firm dupes pharma company of ₹15 crore, luxury cars and gold recovered

A massive fraud of ₹15 crore has been unearthed in Baruipur involving a delivery firm partnered with a pharmaceutical company. Police have arrested three individuals, including the owner of the firm “SB Security and Services,” Taraknath Bhattacharya, for embezzling payments meant for the company “Sasta Sundar.”

According to police, the delivery agency was responsible for delivering medicines and transferring payments to Sasta Sundar from 2022 to 2024. While deliveries were made, the payments never reached the pharma firm. After repeated delays and failed communication, Sasta Sundar filed a police complaint that led to a full-scale investigation.

During the probe, officials found that Bhattacharya had siphoned off the funds and invested the money in luxury items and real estate. Following his interrogation, two associates—Shatarupa Sarkar and Pampa Mistry—were also arrested. Authorities seized gold jewellery worth over ₹1 crore, several luxury vehicles, flats, and other properties. ₹4.5 crore in cash was also recovered.

Police say more arrests could follow as they continue tracking the financial trail. The case has raised serious concerns over the vetting of third-party delivery partners by major companies.
