Fifty-six days after the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has launched a sharp attack on the central government, accusing it of remaining silent on key lapses. In a strongly worded video message, Moitra raised five pointed questions, echoing earlier concerns voiced by fellow party MP Abhishek Banerjee.
The MP from Krishnanagar questioned how terrorists managed to infiltrate one of the country’s most sensitive zones despite heavy deployment. “Who were these attackers? Where did they come from? How did they manage to kill so many without any resistance?” she asked.
Moitra also brought attention to issues beyond the attack itself, including the Centre’s decision to extend the tenure of the Intelligence Bureau chief, and speculations around alleged US mediation in the India-Pakistan conflict. “How can such a massive lapse happen under full security cover?” she questioned, accusing the government of avoiding accountability.
Her statement adds pressure on the central leadership as opposition voices continue to demand a detailed explanation of the events and the security gaps that enabled such a tragedy.
