In a significant crackdown on the illicit liquor trade, Jagatballabpur police, with the strategic assistance of the forest department and the Excise Department, successfully seized approximately 1500 liters of illegal alcohol in a late-night operation. The joint team intercepted two four-wheelers attempting to transport the contraband from Hooghly to the Bakul area of Howrah.
Acting on confidential intelligence, the police team, led by the Officer-in-Charge of Jagatballabpur police station, covertly positioned themselves within the forest. As the vehicles laden with liquor entered the targeted area, law enforcement swiftly moved in, establishing a cordon that thwarted the smugglers' escape. While three to four individuals managed to flee the scene under the cover of darkness, one accused was apprehended by the police.
This operation marks another strategic success for the Jagatballabpur police station in its persistent efforts against illicit liquor smuggling. Just recently, the police had employed boats in a river-based raid to curb similar illegal activities, demonstrating a multi-pronged approach to tackle the menace.
The local administration has affirmed its commitment to eradicate the illicit liquor trade from the region, stating that such decisive actions will continue in the future. These sustained efforts aim to completely dismantle the network of illegal alcohol distribution and production in the area, ensuring public safety and upholding the law.
