Senior Trinamool Congress leader and Dum Dum Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on Sunday morning after he experienced severe chest pain and breathing difficulty. He was at home with his family when the health issue began. Family members immediately shifted him to the hospital for medical attention.
According to sources close to the family, Roy had been feeling unwell since Monday and was experiencing weakness. His condition deteriorated on Sunday morning, prompting urgent medical intervention. A special team of doctors is now monitoring his health. No official update has been issued so far regarding whether his condition is stable or critical.
Roy had recently undergone a medical procedure for the implantation of a pacemaker. Since then, his health has remained unstable. This is the third time in 2025 that the MP has been hospitalised due to serious health concerns. His recent medical history has included recurring episodes of physical discomfort.
In March this year, during the Lok Sabha session, Saugata Roy fell ill while exiting Parliament. He was taken out of the session hall in a wheelchair and admitted to a hospital by fellow MPs. Last month, while inaugurating a temple in his Dum Dum constituency, he once again became unwell and was hospitalised. The pacemaker was inserted following that incident.
As of now, Saugata Roy remains under observation at the Kolkata hospital. His family has not issued any formal statement, and the hospital has not shared a medical bulletin. Further updates on his health status are awaited.
