A fire broke out at the Chunav Aayog building on Sunday during the vote counting process. The blaze started in a data center on the second floor of the building, filling the premises with thick smoke and a burning smell. Staff and officials immediately evacuated the building as a safety measure.
Security personnel and office staff used fire extinguishers to control the fire before the fire brigade arrived. All individuals inside the building were safely evacuated, and there were no reports of injuries or casualties. The fire was brought under control shortly after, preventing further damage.
Work at the Election Commission office resumed after a brief disruption. Officials said the fire department was informed immediately and that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
