A man fell into the Ganga River on Sunday while travelling on a launch from Howrah to Babughat. Eyewitnesses stated that he was standing near the edge of the vessel when he suddenly lost balance and fell into the water. The incident took place mid-journey, and search operations were initiated immediately by the NDRF and local police. Teams conducted continuous patrolling and search efforts along the river stretch between Howrah and Babughat.
On Tuesday morning, a body was found floating near Kadamtala Ghat at Babughat. Police reached the spot and recovered the body, which matched the description of the man who had gone missing. Officials have begun inquest proceedings and are in the process of confirming the man’s identity. Post-mortem examination has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
