Actor and producer Aamir Khan hosted a special screening of his latest film Sitaare Zameen Par at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday for the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. The President’s official X (formerly Twitter) account shared a photograph of the meeting with the caption: “Acclaimed filmmaker and actor Shri Aamir Khan called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.” The picture was taken shortly after the screening.
Sitaare Zameen Par was released in theatres on June 21, 2025. The film is directed by RS Prasanna and written by Divy Nidhi Sharma. Aamir Khan plays the role of a basketball coach who trains a team of specially-abled children. The movie is a Hindi remake of the 2018 Spanish film Campeones. It is produced by Aamir Khan along with Aparna Purohit, B Shrinivas Rao, and Ravi Bhagchandka.
The film features 10 newcomers in acting roles—Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar—all of whom are specially-abled. Genelia Deshmukh plays the role of Aamir Khan’s wife. Supporting roles are played by Dolly Ahluwalia and Brijendra Kala. The screenplay focuses on sports, inclusion, and social themes.
According to box office tracking platform Sacnilk, Sitaare Zameen Par has crossed ₹100 crore in global box office collections within four days of release. The film saw a steady rise in ticket sales over the weekend following its Friday release. It has been released under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and is being screened across major cinema halls in India and abroad.
Sitaare Zameen Par is described as a spiritual successor to Aamir Khan’s 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, which addressed childhood learning disabilities. In the earlier film, Khan had also played the lead role and directed the film. In Sitaare Zameen Par, Khan returns as lead actor and producer, working with a new director and cast to tell a story centred on teamwork, ability, and representation.
