Traffic movement is expected to be affected in multiple parts of Kolkata on Wednesday due to scheduled processions. According to a traffic advisory, the first procession will begin at 1 PM on Rani Birla Avenue. Another is scheduled for 2 PM at the KC Das junction near Dorina Crossing and Jawaharlal Nehru Road, which are among the city’s busiest intersections.
At 6 PM, two more processions will commence. One will cover the stretch from Hazra More to SP Mukherjee Road, Rani Birla Avenue, Gariahat Road, and end at Golpark. The second will pass through Lenin Sarani, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, Free School Street, Ripon Street, Bata More, and Eliot Road. These areas are expected to experience significant traffic delays during that time.
A fifth procession is scheduled to start at 7 PM from Behala Police Station on Diamond Harbour Road and move towards Behala Chowrasta. Commuters are advised to avoid these routes during the mentioned times and use alternative roads wherever possible. Authorities have not specified the duration of the processions but suggest that congestion may persist during and after the scheduled hours.
