Taps stolen from train toilets on Hubballi–Muzaffarpur route; Complaint filed to Ministry after coach floods

A case of theft has been reported aboard the Summer Special Train (number 07315) running from Hubballi to Muzaffarpur, where all the water taps from both toilets on one side of the S-2 sleeper coach were stolen. The incident came to light on Wednesday afternoon when the train reached Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction after being delayed by nearly eight hours.

The train had halted briefly at the station when the taps were reportedly removed. With the plumbing left open, water started overflowing inside the coach. Passengers traveling in the S-2 coach noticed the rapid water flow and exited the area due to the flooding. The exact time and method of the theft remain unclear.

Following the incident, a passenger traveling in the same coach recorded a video of the overflowing water and registered a complaint through the official railway complaint system. The complaint included visuals of the damage and noted that taps had been removed from both toilets on one side of the coach. This complaint was acknowledged, and relevant railway security authorities were informed.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) and concerned officials have initiated an investigation to identify how the theft occurred during the train’s scheduled stop. Authorities are examining whether the act happened while the train was halted or in motion. No suspect has been identified yet, and officials are reviewing the train's movement records and any possible eyewitness accounts.

According to railway sources, this is not the first instance of such theft. Previous cases have involved missing taps, mirrors, soap dispensers, and other fittings, especially in long-distance trains. Incidents like this lead to both inconvenience for passengers and damage to railway property, prompting the need for regular inspection and enhanced security measures.
