College student allegedly gang raped on campus in Kasba; Police arrest 2 seniors and 1 staff member

A new case of alleged brutality has come to light from an educational institution in Kolkata, barely a year after a shocking incident at RG Kar Medical College. A female student has reportedly been gang-raped within the premises of a college in the city's Kasba area. Kasba police have swiftly arrested three individuals in connection with the horrific crime, which has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of students in educational settings.

According to police sources, the arrested individuals include a former student and two employees of the same institute. The victim courageously reported to the police that the brutal assault occurred on the night of June 25, spanning from 7:30 PM to 10:50 PM. She recounted begging for mercy during the ordeal. Following her complaint, police immediately launched a search operation, leading to the apprehension of two accused on June 26, and the third in the early hours of June 27, at approximately 12:30 AM.

The arrests were made based on the victim's detailed complaint, and the police are currently conducting intense interrogation of the accused to uncover further details and potential accomplices. The incident draws a grim parallel to the RG Kar Medical College case, which had deeply shocked the city, highlighting a persistent vulnerability within educational campuses despite previous outrage.

Police officials have stated that all three arrested individuals are in custody and will be produced before the Alipore court today, where investigators are expected to seek their remand for further investigation. The college premises where the alleged crime occurred have been secured for forensic examination, and the victim has undergone a preliminary medical examination as part of the ongoing probe.
