South Bengal gets new rail connectivity: Purulia-Bankura-Howrah MEMU service inaugurated today
Officers from Nalanda Police Station in Bihar visited Park Street Police Station in Kolkata to seek assistance in connection with Nalanda PS Case No. 87/25 dated June 20, 2025. The case was registered under sections 103(2), 61(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, read with Section 27 of the Arms Act. The case involves the murder of Razi Ahmed Khan, a 45-year-old property dealer and social worker, who was shot dead on June 19 around 6:00 PM near Panhesa on NH-82 in Nalanda by four unidentified assailants riding two motorcycles.
Initially, the Nalanda Police had only a mobile number linked to a false address under the jurisdiction of Park Street Police Station. The mobile phone was found switched off, and no further leads were available. Taking note of the case, Park Street Police began technical surveillance to track the suspects. The location of one of the accused was identified using scientific methods, and a raid was conducted at 20, Pemental Street, Kolkata–16. One individual, Md Alam, was apprehended from the location.
Following Md Alam’s statement, another raid was carried out in the Narendrapur Police Station area. Four more individuals were taken into custody for their alleged direct involvement in the case. The operation was jointly carried out by Nalanda PS officers, Park Street PS, and the Monitoring Cell of South Division. Further investigation is ongoing to collect evidence and complete procedural formalities.
