A couple was found dead on Saturday morning in Jalpaiguri’s Danga Para area under the municipal limits. The woman, Nandini, was discovered in a bloodied state at her father’s residence, while her husband, Sunny Raut, was found hanging in the same room. The incident took place in Shut Number Lane of Danga Para.
According to local residents, Sunny Raut, a railway employee and resident of Harijan Palli in Ward Number 12, frequently visited his wife who lived at her paternal home in Danga Para. Locals stated that the couple often argued, and some women in the area claimed Sunny suspected his wife. Residents also alleged that both were seen physically assaulting each other in public on several occasions.
Soon after the news spread, people from Harijan Palli and Danga Para gathered at the spot. The police were informed and began an investigation into the deaths. No official cause of death has been confirmed yet. Authorities are examining both murder and suicide angles, and further details will follow based on the investigation.
