CPI(M) leader beaten on road in Kharagpur for protesting wall demolition, shirt torn
A robbery took place late Sunday night at the residence of three police personnel in Dhasa Jelepara, under Munshirhat in Jagatballavpur, Howrah. According to the complaint, several unidentified individuals broke into the house while it was vacant and stole valuables including gold jewellery and cash. The estimated value of the stolen items is between ₹2 to ₹3 lakh. Family sources said around ₹30,000 in cash and ornaments worth over ₹1 lakh were taken from the almirah.
Before fleeing, the miscreants allegedly poured kerosene stored in the house and set the rooms on fire. The flames damaged several important documents kept inside. Family members Mala Pradhan and Ashtabala Pradhan confirmed that the burglars used the household’s kerosene to start the fire. No injuries were reported, but several papers were burnt before the fire could be controlled.
The house is owned by a family where three members are currently serving in the police force. The Jagatballavpur police station has begun an investigation. Officers have visited the spot and are examining the extent of damage. No arrests have been made as of now. Locals in the area reported seeing suspicious movement late at night, but no further details have been confirmed officially.
