CM Mamata writes to Amit Shah over rising cyber threats, seeks stringent laws
A temporary employee at a government bank in Parbatipur, Domjur, has been arrested for allegedly cheating elderly customers by promising to facilitate their pension disbursals in exchange for large sums of money. The accused has been identified as Rakibul Islam.
According to police, 70-year-old Kanailal Das had visited the branch to collect his pension when he became a victim of the alleged fraud. Based on the complaint, Domjur police arrested Rakibul Islam from the bank premises. He is accused of collecting money from multiple senior citizens under similar pretenses.
The incident took place inside the bank, where Rakibul was reportedly working when the fraudulent activity occurred. Police are verifying if more people were targeted and are continuing their investigation. The bank has initiated an internal review of the incident.
