Sodepur flyover to shut every weekend from July 19 for urgent structural repairs
An overhead electric wire fell on the Janki Express near Khajauli station in Bihar’s Madhubani district on the Jaynagar–Darbhanga rail section, halting the train and triggering panic among passengers. The incident occurred while the train was on its scheduled route from Jaynagar to Manihari. No injuries were reported, but the situation caused significant disruption in train operations on the section.
According to information, the overhead equipment (OHE) broke near Khajauli, leading to the fall of the high-voltage wire. Railway staff on site said that two insulators were also damaged during the incident. Several trains, including the Namo Bharat service, were halted due to the electric supply issue on the track. Passengers of the Janki Express remained stranded for hours following the disruption.
Railway authorities were informed immediately, and technical teams were deployed to carry out necessary repairs. Officials stated that the breakdown was possibly due to faults in the equipment or lack of maintenance, though a detailed investigation was underway. The interruption delayed multiple trains, causing inconvenience to passengers trying to reach their destinations.
