Salt Lake battles heavy waterlogging as 50% water pumps suffer malfunction
The investigation into the alleged gangrape case at Kasba Law College has intensified, with police focusing on digital evidence to establish the presence of the main accused, Monojit Mishra, at the crime scene. According to police headquarters in Lalbazar, mobile tower location data confirms that Monojit and the survivor were present on the college premises on the night of the incident. The police used tower dumping technology to retrieve data of all incoming and outgoing calls from the area.
To strengthen the cyber and technical aspects of the case, the government has appointed cyber expert Vibhas Chatterjee as the Special Public Prosecutor. He will assist in analysing and presenting technical data including mobile location tracking, call records, and device-based evidence collected during the investigation. Police have confirmed the seizure of Monojit’s mobile phone, from which multiple clues have reportedly been extracted.
In addition to mobile data, CCTV footage from cameras installed across the college premises has been obtained and is under examination. These visuals are being matched with mobile activity records to build a timeline of events. The investigation continues with a focus on synchronising digital, technical, and physical evidence to support the ongoing legal process.
