Panic broke out on Monday morning at the Geetanjali bus stop near Newtown's IT offices after passengers noticed fresh blood scattered across the area. The incident occurred during peak office hours, causing many commuters to move away from the spot. Officers from Technocity Police Station arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the alert and began a detailed investigation to determine the source of the blood.
Police examined CCTV footage from the area and questioned nearby residents. The footage showed a man sitting alone at the bus stop, repeatedly coughing, with visible blood coming from his mouth. After tracing the individual, police confirmed that he is a tuberculosis patient. The scene had initially caused confusion among onlookers, with many assuming a serious incident had taken place.
An eyewitness said, “When we first saw it, the body had gone cold. His eyelids had dropped! Hands and feet were trembling. Fresh blood was scattered all around the bus stand. Thinking something terrible had happened, we looked around, but saw nothing. Later, the police were informed.” Police officials confirmed there was no foul play or threat to public safety. The patient has been located and shifted for medical care.
