Salt Lake battles heavy waterlogging as 50% water pumps suffer malfunction
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has announced a significant expansion of its free meal (Annaprasadam) services, with vadas, a popular savory snack, now being served twice daily at the Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Annaprasada Kendra. This initiative aims to cater to the increasing number of devotees visiting the sacred hill shrine and enhance their pilgrimage experience.
TTD Chairman BR Naidu formally launched the extended service after performing traditional rituals at the Annaprasada Bhavan. Demonstrating the TTD's commitment to pilgrim welfare, Mr. Naidu personally served freshly prepared vadas to devotees, underscoring the spiritual significance of the Annaprasadam. Previously, approximately 40,000 vadas were made daily and primarily served during lunch hours. With the new directive, vadas will now be prepared from 11 am to 10:30 pm, ensuring a larger number of pilgrims can partake in this beloved offering.
"Following requests from the pilgrims, we have now added vada to the dinner menu as well," the TTD Chairperson stated, emphasizing that the decision was driven by the desire to provide tastier Annaprasadam and accommodate the continuous flow of devotees. The TTD expects to serve between 70,000 to 75,000 vadas daily with this extended service. Prepared with a blend of Bengal Gram, green chilies, ginger, curry leaves, coriander, mint, and fennel seeds, the vadas have consistently received positive feedback for their taste and quality, continuing a tradition of providing wholesome and hygienic free meals that began in 1985.
