Big tree collapses at CR Avenue amid heavy rain, electric wires snapped as well
Job aspirants under the SSC Group C and D categories began assembling at Howrah Maidan on Tuesday morning to protest alleged delays in recruitment. The demonstrators have announced a march to Nabanna, the state secretariat, demanding immediate issuance of appointment letters. Protesters said they had cleared both written examinations and interviews but had not received any formal communication regarding appointments.
Participants have arrived from multiple districts across West Bengal and gathered in front of Sarat Sadan at Howrah Maidan. Organisers stated that this protest was planned after previous demonstrations failed to receive a response. Their primary demand is that candidates who qualified as per SSC criteria be officially recruited.
In view of the protest, a large police force has been deployed across the Howrah Maidan area. Security presence has also been increased at key locations such as Howrah Station and surrounding zones. Authorities are focusing on traffic regulation and public safety as the crowd is expected to grow through the day.
Protesters allege that several recruitment processes have been left incomplete despite court observations in some cases. The march to Nabanna is intended to highlight these pending issues. Officials have not made any public statement yet regarding the ongoing protest or the demands raised by the demonstrators.
