No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
An IndiGo flight (6E-7267) bound for Jaipur from Surat International Airport was delayed by over an hour on Monday afternoon after a large swarm of bees unexpectedly surrounded and clung to its luggage door. The unusual incident caused a frenzy among airport staff and left passengers, who had already boarded the aircraft, waiting inside.
The flight, originally scheduled to depart at 4:20 PM, was unable to take off with the obstruction. Videos recorded by passengers from inside the plane, now viral on social media, showed numerous bees clustered on the aircraft's cargo compartment shutter, with many more buzzing around. Initial attempts by airport authorities to disperse the bees using smoke proved ineffective.
To resolve the bizarre situation, a fire engine was called to the scene. Firefighters successfully dislodged the tenacious swarm by spraying water on the luggage door. Following the clearance and standard safety checks, the IndiGo flight eventually departed at 5:26 PM, approximately 66 minutes behind schedule. No passengers or airport staff were reported injured during the incident.
