A sudden bomb blast occurred late Monday night in Sultanpur’s Tower Lane under the Mallikpur area of South 24 Parganas district, causing widespread panic among local residents. The intensity of the explosion shook the walls of nearby houses, prompting people to rush out in fear. No injuries were reported from the incident till the time of reporting.
Local residents alleged that the attack was carried out by Suraj Molla alias Baby, a resident of the Beniadanga area, along with his associates. They claimed that the group had previously been involved in other criminal activities in the region. The blast site was located in a residential lane, where damage to structures was observed due to the impact.
Police from Baruipur station reached the spot shortly after the explosion. Based on CCTV footage, two individuals—Suraj Molla and Irshad Khan—were identified and arrested in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway to determine the motive and identify others who may be involved. Security in the area has been increased.
