Police arrest 3 including Hemant Sikaria for investment fraud
Protests erupted again at Howrah’s Narasinha Dutt College on Wednesday following misconduct allegations against a Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) leader. A day after SFI held demonstrations, members of several other student organisations, including the BJP’s student wing, gathered inside the college campus demanding strict action. The protest saw slogans raised against the accused student and calls for accountability from the college administration and police.
During the agitation, there was a physical confrontation between protesting students and police personnel. Security forces were deployed in large numbers to control the situation. Students attempted to move beyond the designated protest area, leading to brief clashes. The college premises witnessed heightened tension throughout the day, and academic activities were disrupted.
The protesting students demanded disciplinary and legal action against the TMCP leader named in the complaint. They also called for an independent investigation into the role of the college administration and police handling of the matter. Student organisations have announced that if their demands are not met, they will intensify the agitation in the coming days. The college authorities have not yet issued any official statement regarding the developments.
