A young woman from Katni, Madhya Pradesh, arrived in Sono town of Bihar’s Jamui district after learning that her former lover, Nivas Kumar, was preparing to marry another woman. The woman claimed she had come to seek answers, leading to a public scene at Sono Chowk. Police were called in to manage the crowd and maintain order.
According to police, the woman and Nivas met while working at a garments factory in Katni. They were in a relationship, and she wished to marry him. A few months ago, Nivas returned to his native village, Kuhila, in Bihar, and allegedly stopped all contact with her. The woman later came to know that his family had arranged his marriage with someone else.
The woman travelled to Jamui and confronted Nivas, asking him to marry her. She insisted she would not return home and wanted a resolution. However, Nivas and his parents refused to accept her. As tensions escalated, a large crowd gathered at the spot, and the matter reached the local police.
Police took all involved to the local station for questioning. Station House Officer Dharmendra Kumar confirmed that the woman is a legal adult and a resident of Katni. He said, "The woman’s family has been informed. Appropriate legal procedures are being followed as per standard protocol."
