Railways gives 9,000 jobs in Quarter 1, plans 50,000 for FY 2025-26
A constable posted at Sinthi police station in Kolkata, identified as Arjun Saha, has been accused of taking large sums of money from individuals in exchange for promises of securing them government jobs. Multiple people have come forward with complaints, alleging that Saha assured them recruitment into the police force or other government positions if they paid him lakhs of rupees.
The allegations have triggered internal scrutiny within the police department. An investigation has been initiated to verify the claims, and statements from the complainants are being recorded. The amount reportedly collected by Saha from various individuals is under assessment, with initial estimates suggesting it could run into several lakhs. Officials are reviewing all related records and possible transactions.
In response to the allegations, Arjun Saha has denied the charges. He stated, “All these allegations against me are false and are being made to get me fired. I am poor. There has already been an ongoing dispute between my family and theirs. This is the result of that conflict.” The inquiry into the matter is ongoing.
