Ex-TMCP leader alleges harassment by party leaders, says many ‘Manojits’ in party

Suspended Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) leader Rajanya Haldar has alleged that there are several leaders like Manojit Mishra within the party who have exploited women. She said that after raising her voice, AI-generated nude images of her were circulated on social media in an attempt to malign her. Rajanya stated she repeatedly informed the party leadership, including attempts to reach Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, but received no response.

Rajanya’s husband, Prantik Chakraborty, also a suspended TMCP leader, has filed a police complaint regarding alleged AI-generated obscene images made using his face. He alleged that a Trinamool Congress worker used artificial intelligence to create and share distorted images aimed at damaging his public image and dignity. He termed it an act of targeted defamation and requested police intervention.

Rajanya earlier came into focus after the alleged gangrape incident at a law college surfaced. Following that, she accused several TMCP leaders of misconduct and claimed to be a victim herself. She reiterated that “there are many Manojits in the party” and stated that the use of AI-generated images was part of a coordinated effort to discredit her after her allegations became public.

Party figures have responded to Rajanya’s claims. Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim’s daughter Priyadarshini Hakim, Deputy Mayor Atin Ghosh’s daughter Priyadarshini Ghosh, councillor Jui Biswas, and TMCP member Vaishali Dattagupta have issued statements rejecting her accusations. Vaishali Dattagupta, a former friend of Rajanya, stated, “Her claim that she couldn’t reach the Chief Minister is false,” and added that invoking one ‘Manojit’ to target the entire organization was damaging. She also said Rajanya made a film on the RG Kar hospital case without party permission, leading to her suspension.

Vaishali further questioned Rajanya’s motives by referring to her father’s reported links with the BJP and the claim that Rajanya had been offered a BJP ticket for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Responding to this, Rajanya said, “What I said in 2024 was already in the public domain, and I have not left the party.” She added that when a similar allegation emerged against a Sonarpur College leader, a female TMC councillor had spoken publicly, and questioned the current silence. Rajanya also said that Vaishali had earlier shared personal experiences with her that contradicted her present stance.
