Three cyclonic systems trigger heavy rain alert for 10 Bengal districts from Monday

Three cyclonic systems forming over eastern and northeastern India are expected to intensify rainfall activity across West Bengal starting Sunday. A rain alert has been issued for 10 districts in both South and North Bengal, with forecasts of heavy showers and gusty winds over the next few days.

In South Bengal, heavy rainfall is likely on Monday in Purulia, Bankura, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, and South 24 Parganas. Wind speeds may reach 30 to 40 kmph during thunderstorms. On Tuesday, heavy rainfall alerts are in place for East Burdwan, Birbhum, Nadia, and Murshidabad. A yellow warning has been issued for coastal and western districts.

Rainfall is also expected in Kolkata, with chances of scattered thunderstorms from Monday. Along with rain, increased moisture is likely to cause high humidity. Rainfall activity may persist in most parts of the Gangetic region of the state through early next week.

In North Bengal, heavy rainfall is expected on Sunday in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar. On Monday, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar have been issued heavy rainfall alerts. Other districts in the region are likely to receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

Two additional cyclonic circulations are developing over Punjab and Northeast Assam, which may further influence regional rainfall patterns. Weather conditions in affected districts will be monitored continuously, with alerts subject to updates based on system movements.
