Train services were disrupted for nearly three hours at Gazole railway station in Malda district after the engine of the Balurghat-Bhatinda Express broke down unexpectedly. The train came to a halt during its scheduled run, leaving passengers stranded on the platform and inside coaches. The disruption affected both the train's schedule and passenger movement in the area.
According to railway sources, the incident took place on Tuesday when the engine of the express train developed a technical fault. A replacement engine was arranged from Eklakhi Junction, which is also located in Malda district. The replacement engine was transported to Gazole and coupled with the stalled train to enable it to resume its journey.
Railway staff carried out on-site procedures to attach the new engine and ensure all safety checks were completed. Services resumed after the technical issue was addressed. Passengers on board experienced a prolonged delay, but no further complications were reported following the restoration of the train’s operations.
