Diamond Harbour Police District arrested accused persons from other states in connection with two separate cases, including a government bank robbery that took place in February under Usti police station limits. According to Additional Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar De, after sustained investigation, the accused were traced and arrested outside West Bengal. One of the arrested persons, Farhan Mandal, is a resident of Basanti police station area and has multiple cases registered against him.
Police stated that the accused remained hidden after the crime and avoided detection for months. Despite efforts to evade arrest, they were tracked and located by the investigation team. The probe also aims to identify others who may have been involved in the planning and execution of the crimes. The arrested individuals are being interrogated to uncover more details.
During the operation, police recovered looted cash along with 1 kg of stolen jewellery from the possession of the accused. Further legal procedures are underway, and separate case files are being examined to determine any possible links to other incidents involving the same individuals.
