Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A large, decades-old tree fell during a brief spell of rain and strong winds in Salt Lake's B.L. Block. The tree collapsed near the canal, landing directly on two vehicles, including an app cab. The cab driver and passenger were inside at the time but escaped without injuries. The incident led to the complete blockage of the adjacent road.
The falling tree also caused severe damage to the boundary wall of a nearby house, which was completely destroyed. Local sources confirmed that both vehicles suffered visible damage, and one had to be towed from the spot. The location of the incident, beside the canal, made access difficult for heavy equipment.
Workers began clearing the debris immediately. A crane and cutters were used to remove the fallen tree. Traffic was diverted from the area. Cleanup efforts continued into the evening to restore normal movement on the road.
