A 23-year-old man, identified as Zahidul Islam, died in a road accident just two hours before his wedding in Shimultala village under Chanchal police station in Malda district on Friday night. Zahidul had gone out to purchase some essential items for the wedding when the accident took place.
According to local sources, the incident occurred near Maltipur Club. While overtaking an oncoming vehicle, Zahidul lost control of his motorcycle and fell on the road. He died on the spot due to the impact. His wedding was scheduled for that same night, and guests and relatives had already gathered at his residence.
The police reached the spot shortly after the accident and sent Zahidul’s body for post-mortem to Malda Medical College and Hospital. The incident has triggered widespread shock in the village. An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
