A chilling case from Maheshtala has raised serious questions after a woman was found dead and her house gutted by fire. Police have arrested her son on suspicion of murder and arson. Investigators believe the son may have killed his mother and then set the house ablaze in an attempt to destroy evidence and make it look like an accident or suicide.
The incident occurred earlier this week when locals spotted flames and alerted the fire brigade. After the fire was doused, the woman’s body was recovered from inside the house. Initial signs suggested a suspicious death rather than a natural accident. Forensic teams were called in, and a preliminary investigation hinted at foul play.
Following questioning, police arrested the son who was present near the house during the incident. Officials suspect he might have set the fire to eliminate clues of a possible murder. Investigators are now digging deeper into family disputes and psychological history to establish the motive.
