Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by Lalgola police from separate houses in the Chataydubi area of Murshidabad district. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Ziaul Sheikh (33), Pintu Sheikh (30), and Farid Sheikh (33), all residents of Chapainawabganj district in Bangladesh. Police said the arrests were made during a raid based on specific inputs about their presence in the area.
According to police sources, fake Aadhaar cards were recovered from the possession of the three men. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had entered India illegally, though the exact time and method of entry are still under investigation. The accused were taken to Lalgola Police Station after the raid and booked under relevant sections related to illegal entry and forgery of documents.
All three were produced in the Lalbagh Sub-Divisional Court, where police sought seven days of custody for further investigation. Police are now trying to determine when and how they entered India and whether they received help from any local individuals or networks. The inquiry also includes checking if other Bangladeshi nationals have crossed the border illegally. A detailed investigation is underway.
