NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
Two major roads in North Kolkata’s Dumdum and Airport-adjacent areas—VIP Road and Italgacha Road—are in severely damaged condition, causing daily trouble for thousands of commuters. The stretch from Haldiram to Chinar Park on VIP Road remains submerged due to persistent waterlogging, while the Koikhali to Airport Gate No. 1 section of Italgacha Road is riddled with potholes.
Residents and commuters allege the roads have been left unattended despite repeated complaints. “We risk accidents every day. The waterlogged stretch hides potholes, and the broken road near Koikhali is unfit for vehicles,” said a local commuter. These roads fall under the jurisdiction of Dumdum Municipality and serve as key access points to the airport, schools, hospitals, and offices.
Italgacha Road is also a major route for people travelling from suburban and district areas to the city. The poor road condition has reportedly led to frequent traffic jams, vehicle breakdowns, and delays. No official statement has been issued on drainage repairs or road restoration as of now.
