The North Bengal State Transport Corporation has started a new air-conditioned bus service between Balurghat and Digha. The service will run twice a week—departing from Balurghat every Tuesday and Saturday evening, and returning from Digha every Wednesday and Sunday afternoon. The fare has been fixed at ₹960 per passenger, and the bus has a seating capacity of 45.
Along with this, a non-air-conditioned bus service between Balurghat and Siliguri has also been launched. Both services were inaugurated by Corporation Chairman Partha Pratim Roy. The inauguration event was attended by Board member Toraf Hossain Mandal, former minister Shankar Chakraborty, and South Dinajpur Zilla Parishad Assistant Sabhadhipati Ambarish Sarkar.
Chairman Partha Pratim Roy stated that public representatives had been demanding the Balurghat–Digha bus service for a long time. “The bus has been launched with special fare concessions. It will also help people visiting the Jagannath Temple in Digha,” he said.
