"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
A case has been registered at Phoolbagan police station against INTTUC leader Kavita Gupta for allegedly assaulting petrol pump owner Sumona Das Roy. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday afternoon when Gupta reached the petrol pump with several people. According to Sumona's complaint, they demanded that the pump be shut down. When she refused, she was allegedly assaulted inside the premises. The complaint names Kavita Gupta and other unidentified individuals.
Sumona Das Roy claimed that she was beaten “badly” after refusing to close the pump. She alleged that Gupta and her associates entered the premises without permission and physically assaulted her. The incident took place inside the pump office, according to the details provided in her complaint. A written complaint was submitted to the police following the incident, and an official case has been registered under relevant IPC sections.
In response, Kavita Gupta said she went to the pump to speak about dues pending for around twelve employees who were employed during Sumona’s father's tenure. Gupta claimed that during the conversation, Sumona misbehaved and verbally abused party leaders Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. Gupta said, “That’s why I slapped her. If she again says anything bad about our leaders, I will hit her again.” The police have begun an investigation and are verifying both claims.
