Kap’s Café, owned by Indian comedian and television host Kapil Sharma, was targeted by gunfire early Thursday morning for the second time in less than a month. The café, located at the intersection of 84 Avenue and Scott Road, had at least six visible bullet holes and shattered windows. Police responded to reports of gunfire around 4:30 a.m. and have since cordoned off the area while investigations are ongoing.
Local residents reported hearing multiple gunshots during the incident. “I heard shots fired, like five or six shots and then the cops came,” said Bob Singh, who witnessed the incident from his patio. Another resident, Michelle Gaucher, stated, “At 4:35 a.m., we were woken up to eight gunshots — it was not fireworks.” She added that she later saw the area closed off with emergency vehicles present. The café had previously reopened after it was shot at on July 8, just days after opening. No arrests were made in that case, and no injuries were reported.
Surrey Police have not released any official statement regarding the motive or suspects involved in the recent shooting. The incident comes amid increased focus on security concerns in Surrey’s South Asian business community, following a series of reported extortion threats. Officers remain on-site as part of the ongoing investigation into the repeated targeting of the business.
