Eastern Railway is introducing its first fully air-conditioned local train service between Sealdah and Ranaghat. The service will be inaugurated on August 10 and will begin regular operations from August 11. The train will run with 12 coaches and has a total seating capacity of around 1,200 passengers. The fare for a one-way journey has been fixed at ₹120.
The AC local will run twice daily. From Ranaghat, the train will depart at 8:29 AM and reach Sealdah at 10:10 AM. In the return direction, it will leave Sealdah at 6:50 PM and arrive in Ranaghat at 8:32 PM. It will function as a semi-fast train, halting only at selected stations along the route, aiming to reduce travel time.
According to officials, the train will offer a completely air-conditioned journey. The aim is to enhance passenger convenience on one of the busiest suburban stretches. The service is being introduced as part of a broader operational plan to increase comfort and capacity in daily suburban travel.
