Jharkhand Police have arrested a TSPC militant, Jamadar Ganjhu, from Khamdih forest in Chatra district. The arrest was made by Lawalong police based on a confidential tip-off. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militant during the operation. The seized items include one country-made pistol, three country-made rifles, 92 rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones, one SIM card, a TSPC poster, a camouflage uniform, and a bag.
Chatra Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Khandelwal provided details at a press conference held at the district collectorate. He stated that the militant was identified based on secret information indicating his presence in the forest with arms. The operation was led by Simaria SDPO Shubham Khandelwal and involved a raid team conducting a swift search in the forest, resulting in the arrest of Jamadar Ganjhu.
The arrested militant, also known as Pahadi Ganjhu, is a resident of Kanwatari village under Lawalong police station jurisdiction. Police reports state that he has been active in extortion activities across several districts including Tandwa, Lawalong, Simaria, Hazaribagh, and Chatra. Ganjhu is reportedly associated with the Koharam squad of TSPC and was working alongside another militant named Kabir Ganjhu.
Several cases have been registered against Jamadar Ganjhu under the Arms Act and the Chotanagpur Liberation Army (CLA) Act. These include cases filed at Sadar police station, Tandwa, Lawalong, and Simaria police stations. He has previously been imprisoned and was sent to jail following the registration of a new case under FIR number 57/25 at Lawalong police station.
Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Khandelwal appealed to militants to surrender and take advantage of the government’s surrender policy. The operation involved key personnel including SDPO Shubham Khandelwal, Lawalong police station in-charge Rupesh Kumar, and officers Suryapratap Singh and Wajid Ali, along with a team of security personnel who participated in the raid.
