A massive landslide has blocked the Nandprayag route in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district following heavy rainfall. The incident comes just days after flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in Uttarkashi on August 5.
Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said work is underway to clear the blocked road. He confirmed that apart from this route, all other roads in the district are functional.
Officials said the bridge connecting Uttarkashi to Harsil has been reconstructed to allow movement of machinery and relief materials to areas affected by the recent disaster. Several houses in Dharali village were swept away during the floods.
Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth has reviewed relief and rescue operations with senior police officials, including teams from SDRF, fire service, and PAC. He appreciated the efforts made so far and discussed the next phase of the action plan.
