Kolkata police have uncovered yet another shocking chapter in the saga of Bibhas Adhikari, an expelled Trinamool Congress leader from Nalhati, Birbhum. Already infamous for running a fake embassy and a bogus police station, Adhikari is now accused of operating a fraudulent “Interpol” office in Beliaghata.
Investigators revealed that Adhikari had rented two flats barely a kilometre from Beliaghata police station, turning them into a fully functional but fake Interpol branch. The signboards outside displayed “Social Justice Investigation,” “Interpol,” and “Police,” creating an illusion of legitimacy. Employees were seen working there daily, while Adhikari himself would arrive in a blue light car, accompanied by four armed security guards.
According to locals, the office had been active for about a month. The elaborate setup remained undetected by police or neighbours until news of Adhikari’s arrest hit the media. Only then did residents realise that the man in the blue light vehicle was the same person they had seen frequently entering the premises.
Police are now investigating how Adhikari managed to operate so close to a police station without raising suspicion. His latest exposure has intensified discussions about security lapses and the brazenness of such fraudulent activities in the heart of Kolkata.
