BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
A man was apprehended in Kolkata with a concealed, improvised firearm in the early hours of Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The arrest was made possible by the alertness of two traffic police officers from the Sealdah Traffic Guard, who noticed the individual acting suspiciously near 1, Beliaghata Road.
According to a police report, Sergeant Hiranmoy Sarkar and Sujit Khanrah were performing their duties at approximately 5:40 AM when they observed a man walking suspiciously. The officers intercepted the individual and asked for his identification. He identified himself as Pankaj Biswas, also known as 'Misty,' a 30-year-old resident of 48/H/25 Pottery Road, Kolkata-14.
The traffic police officers then conducted a search of the individual, during which they discovered an improvised single-shot firearm. The weapon was found concealed at the front of his waist, underneath his t-shirt. The report notes that the firearm was in a damaged condition at the time of discovery.
Following the recovery of the weapon, the traffic police officers immediately detained Pankaj Biswas and informed the Entally Police Station about the incident. Police from the Entally PS quickly arrived at the scene and, after completing all necessary legal formalities, seized the damaged firearm. The seizure list was dated August 13, 2025.
Pankaj Biswas was officially arrested at the spot at approximately 7:05 AM on the same day. He was subsequently taken to the police station and placed in the lock-up. The report confirms that he had no injuries and no complaints at the time of his arrest.
A case has been initiated against the accused, Pankaj Biswas. The Entally Police Station has registered a case (No. 208, dated August 13, 2025) under Sections 25(1B)(a) and 27 of the Arms Act. The seized firearm has been secured in the police station's Malkhana (store room) for safekeeping, designated as M.K. No. 101/25.
